Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed.

AQWA

Today we decided to head to the Aquatic Center. It is a fun place to visit. The kids get to touch Fiddler Rays, starfish and some strange spikey looking sea creatures...there are also varioius fish desperately trying to escape the molestations. My favorite part of AQWA is the "deadly creatures" exhibit- which goes into detail explaining how quickly the blue ring octopus, stonefish, lionfish, box jellyfish and a plethora of other enticing creatures can kill or permanently injure you...yeeks! There is also an amazing, gigantic tunnel you go through with a school of nurse sharks, lagerhead turtles, gigantic manta rays etc that swim all around and over top of you...

Can you believe it?

Our beautiful neice Jazzy had her grade nine graduation- she is a brilliant and lovely girl who will do great things- We wish we could have been there for the big day!!!

Siblings

Fall Skinny dip

John is gone for a week to the glamorous off-shore rig where he gets to work endless hours and be continually sea sick. I guess the sea is particularly rough right now...Oh yeah it is not john doing the skinny dipping(as far as i know) - it is bronson and Haven. On that note John says that on the rig there are sharks continually circling around. They did some kind of rescue simulation where they threw something into the water (raw meat?) and timed how long it would take to get a rescue raft out and the sharks were after the bait in 30 seconds and it took 2 minutes for the rescue raft to reach the target- not great information to have...On that note the kids and i decided to go to the beach on saturday afternoon just to play in the sand and it was so gorgeous out that they wanted to swim...a gorgeous day.

Out and About in Perth

The kids love the Perth Zoo- It is beautiful and is very conservation/rehabilitation oriented so you feel good supporting it. Bronto and Haven are here with their favorite Perth friends Zac and Saira...

Boyd Fisher Wedding

I had a great time at jen's wedding....it was such an honor to be part of such an amazing day. The weather was perfect and setting divine! I missed the kids and John- but is was great to be solo for awhile and have solely adult conversations for 5 days! I arrived in Canada on Wednesday the 30th of May and was to fly out on the 3rd of June...however my flight was delayed due to bad weather. Holly rescued me from the airport and i was able to see her and her family and Jen and Bert and kids before heading back to Perth. I also clocked some QT with mama Linda as she was at the wedding... An interesting note for anyone planning to visit Australia- don't be overweight on your luggage...I had two big bags(one was left from previous time..and yes some shopping was done in Canada as well...) both were over by 6-8 lbs- The airline wanted to charge $500.00 if you can believe it. Anyway i was able to do a crazy rearrangement and look like a bag lady with my extremely heavy carry-on, but i was able to make it work and didn't have to pay. Whew...

Our New Home

We love our new neighborhood in Rossmoyne, WA. We are about 13 KM from the CBD (central business district), and about a 15 minute drive to the beach/ocean. Our home is about a block away from the canning river and 2 blocks away from Haven's kindy and shops...groceries, butcher, restaurants, wine store, post office etc...we love being able to walk everywhere. The kids love to stroll along the river and spot jellyfish, dolphins and parrots. When i was back in Canada John had the kids out in the kayak a couple of times and they stopped for breaks at "princess peninsula" and "Bronster Beach".

San Francisco

En route to Perth we decided to plan a visit with Radha and Jonah Pappas. We had a blast hanging out in the Marina district of San Francisco and were able to see a few sights as well...We made it to Fishermans wharf, the science centre and the Palace of fine arts...After we dropped R&J off at the airport we went and hung out at the colorful Golden Gate park for a few hours. We also had the opportunity to meet some of Radha's bay area friends. It was a great visit and we miss them already...
